E-mail usage

Hello! Is it possible/legal to use the same e-mail adress to create more than one account on lichess.org/?

P.S: Don't get me wrong, if it's prohibited I won't do that. I just want a clarification in a issue.
I think in practice at least in bullet every third player has an alternate sandbagging account - that's from my experience, and I don't have an alternate accounts myself, I believe that is discouraged if not prohibited from official stand point.
I usually notice those alternate accounts when they play the same obscure opening lines that no-one else plays + similar strength/speed, sometimes even the same insults, same time control etc., I can tell you that a lot of players have alternate accounts here, I've even seen some top-10 players with alternate accounts, so it is hardly rare, but I personally consider it cheating, although a low level one (not overly harmful).
How is it beneficial to have more than one account?
Yeah, multiple accounts on another sites I've signed up can lead to all the user's accounts being closed. I do also notice multiple accounts by the style of playing, the flag in some cases, and the way to comment. But I guess you went a bit off-topic from the original intention of this thread, mwghost.

To be honest, I had an account here before, which I didn't used too much, and in consequence, I forgot it's password. I even tried sending a password reset to the e-mail I believe I used to that one, but I didn't got any response from lichess. So, I started this new one. Is it still ok, right lichess' mods?
"But I guess you went a bit off-topic from the original intention of this thread, mwghost."
That's true I just took an opportunity to express certain behavior that I find somewhat harmful (and not only I - as you said yourself other sites will ban you for this) and that is quite widespread, although not as significant to warrant a thread of it own. + tried to answer your question. And I don't think you will be banned in this case.

"How is it beneficial to have more than one account?"
As I said it is not overly harmful, nor overly beneficial - perhaps it is more destructivethan beneficial to player who uses this (by permanently reserving handles, overloading user database, overcrowding top100 - making it harder to reach it for others etc.) . One advantage is that you can cheat/troll on one account badly and if you are banned from creating new accounts, and flagged as computer you can continue playing from another account and perhaps cheat less often and don't get caught.
Also you probably have somewhat better chances for reaching a better standing - to illustrate this, imagine you had lots of time and created 100 accounts, especially in the first games when your rating jumps wildly you have high chances of getting many high rated but weak players in a row in one of those accounts, and super high rating, much above your average, then walk around and say you are a master etc.

However I did not say that it is beneficial in my original post, I've noticed that many users in this forum like to make up what I said and then try to counter that, although my long style of writing might be somewhat guilty here (they probably don't read it all or well enough).
To cheat does not always mean that the cheater gains something directly, sometimes he is just trying to harm his main rivals, and that's what I meant - sometimes due to winning some player, or simply getting more points than him, he will start to sandbag me, by creating a new nickname, then playing many weak games against lower rated players, gaining rating much below his real and then go and crush me and horribly drain my rating, that's actually happened to me here many times.
"I forgot it's password. I even tried sending a password reset to the e-mail I believe I used to that one"
High probability of email mismatch somewhere, but also you should have checked spam (if you didn't) - I find that more and more legitimate email gets thrown into spambox as spam becomes more and more aggressive and more and more spam-signatures (emails that are identified as similar to some spam) are being made.
#8: mwghost, no. I've asked the password reset to the main e-mails I do use, I checked even on the spam/junk box besides the inbox, and nothing has come. So, I've given up on that.

Btw, is there a limit for how many characters you can use when sending a personal message, or starting/replying to a forum here?
"Btw, is there a limit for how many characters you can use when sending a personal message, or starting/replying to a forum here?"

Not that I know, but I believe most forum users here simply skip past by my (usually long) messages.
