when its implied that your stupid for knowing things by someone.

Yes, i recently was in an argument of sorts in real life with someone, who in between the back and forth of dialogue said
"why do you always use long words" as if to imply that i'm a fool for knowing such words (and what they mean), and this was this persons only actual attack that they could find to say, i mean it's just incredible to me what these type of people will say to try to win an argument (in their mind at least) and to try to belittle you for actually knowing things.
Incidentally the words i used were 'Freudian slip'.
Yeah i know right ! , hardly word genius level language here.
Then this person said "what does that mean anyway"? i replied "look it up" person replied "i don't know how to spell it so i can't".

This is a true story by the way !. :).

Has anyone else had something similar happen ? , because i'm interested to know how many of these types of people are about.

Turn on the news (if you can call it that). Theyre everywhere. Theyre sheep repeating something they’ve heard or been conditioned to follow or just do so because their mates do it and they need to be part of the herd, or flock.

I couldn't have put it better myself ! , it's certainly lonely out here when one so rarely meets individual thinking people.
I hate to be cliche, but that film "The Matrix" said it all. :).
If someone says why do you use big words it means they don't know either.

If the shoe fits put it on.

And what's more, they couldn't and wouldn't look it up either, (wilfull ignorance is bliss for these folk). :).
