We 2000 players make tactical mistakes all the time. There is always something to be gained from becoming a better tactician. Calculation is going to be a priority for many of us, and it is hard to accurately calculate something complex if you aren’t seeing the possible tactical motifs in the position. At 2000, you’d hope that you don’t miss many one or two move shots, but you will want to start seeing the 3, 4 and 5 move shots more regularly as you move forward. This is of course all a generalization and different players will have different needs, but the importance of tactics never dies.
I read somewhere that around 46 or 47 percent of GM games are still decided by tactics, just to put it in perspective how even in games amongst very strong players there are tactical errors and opportunities.
