When i play a game things seem different again it's anoying having to figure out new things over and over without any thing being said...

"New opponent" button has been removed as it's a replica of several other links to the homepage.
The layout shouldn't be changing anymore now. The issue with the previous layout was that it was made hastily to support in-game PGN. Now that's been rolled out, we've been able to make amendments to the layout. This layout is almost identical to the layout before the PGN was implemented.

alright youve got the best chesssite on the planet ive never heard about it until about 1 and half months ago though but its what ive been looking for

While this statement holds true indeed, still I consider this button was useful. Not a big deal, of course, but it was really on the right place at the right moment, I should say. Just two cents from the UX point of view of those who loved this button and new opponents -)

I agree with tisme... I don't like that embarrassing moment when you can't escape after the end of a game. The "New Opponent" button was that ejector seat.
I agree with Woden and tisme. I've accidentally sent rematch offers several times because I'm used to the "New Opponent" button being in that particular spot :(
