What variation do you play against the Ruy Lòpez?

I mostly play the old Steinitz defense or the Berlin defense. What do you play against the Ruy López?
Since I played the Bird's Opening, against the Ruy López, I played the Bird's Defense.
I avoid it by playing 1...c5! But if I didn't... I would probably play the Schliemann Defence: 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 f5
Assuming that your Lichess rating matches your playing strength, you shouldn't even be worrying about opening specifics let alone knowing the theory of the Berlin and the Steinitz. Work on tactics and endgames instead.
@YM17 false, openings are important at every level.

I play the Berlin against the Ruy and it's been pretty nice. I also play the Mortimer variation against the d3 Berlin
I like the Marshall Gambit, if white enters the mainline he has to suffer for an extra pawn. Sidelines or Anti-Marshall systems are also fine for black but it's quite a lot of theory.
