Interchangeable icons

Hi,

I have talked to a few people and it’s clear that quite a few people don’t like the new ultrabullet/bullet icons. In fact, one person I spoke to went to my profile and said this: “new shield looks shitty” However, quite a lot of people do like it, which is good! My suggestion is this:
Would it be possible to have a setting to change the icon? It might be hard the implement but that way everybody would be happy, and quite a few people are unhappy right now with the logos. Just like changing the piece set and board theme to your preferences.

It is not a problem if this cannot work, but it would be great if this is possible, I really liked the cursor for ultrabullet and now it is gone :-(

Another problem, as creative thinking said, is that the ultrabullet and bullet icons can easily be confused! It is hard to tell whether a seek is for 1/2+0 or 1/4+0.

And lots of people have agreed with me that especially the shields look worse than before:

However if this may be a bit hard but it would be great if you could do it .

I do agree with @CalbernandHowbe , the cursor logo was symbolic. I know developers have other things (that are more important) to work on, but it'd be really nice if we had an option.

I agree with all of you. The logo just seems a bit strange for me. I actually like the bullet one tho... idk if I want tit to be changed.

That’s the good thing about this suggestion! You can change the ones you don’t like, and keep the same the ones you don’t like.

I think the bullet logo is fine, but it shouldn't be the same as chess com's one. I understand that this might be easier to use as it most likely is an already existing text font that you can easily implement instead of showing a picture or make a new bullet logo, but still I think this way lichess looses a bit of its uniqueness and individuality.

I am pretty sure this won't change, as I know how much work it is to change that. Just wanted to post my opinion about it. I got the feeling people from the lichess community want to distance themselves from chess com and therefore have their own logos and not use similar ones.

Guys this is great feedback, thank you, but with every single change I make to Lichess, there are people who ask for a setting to revert it.

If I had accepted, Lichess would now be an incredibly bloated piece of junk with thousands of settings.

Sorry you don't like the new icons. I think you'll get used to them rather quickly.

№7 Exactly! The main thing is that people are afraid of change but after some time they will come to realise that that change was actually good for them.

@thibault I do like them, I just thought it would be cool to add some individual touch to it. The draw icon/button is nice, I never liked this handshake anyway. And also the idea of the bullet is pretty cool if it wasn't already used by chess com for such a long time. I think what you did was good and it is great to see that you put work into improving or changing the website, this keeps it alive, no matter if it suits everyone.
