live streams

Just going to throw in my two cents here.

A twitch chat, especially when there's 20 people trying to get your attention at once, can go very fast. A warning given in a twitch chat might not be seen very easily, which could be a source for Zug's continued ventures on-stream away from lichess.org

A message on lichess itself explaining what happened and the issue might've avoided a lot of miscommunication, it seems.

I hope lichess.org features zug's stream again. It was one of the more interesting ones, in my opinion, and more frequent as well.

I'm so glad you're deferring and eschewing actual names.

Thibault did issue warnings to Zug directly, but Zug's a bit hapless, and you'd know that if you do actually watch his stream. He's entertaining and I do like him quite a bit, but don't tell me he hasn't been playing a ton of Hearthstone when he's been featured on the lichess homepage.

At any rate, the issue's resolved and a real-time conversation was had.
The cheater I was talking about is no longer here 'it says deleted profile' but does not say that he was a cheater, I can comment no more on that. I don't know what your remark about deferring means, but I an assure I was not talking about you, I have been moderating chess servers for years now, I can tell a cheater, although sometimes (very rarely) I make a mistake, but I correct it afterwards if I do make one.
I'm sorry, that was rather curt and unwarranted on my part. I'm not in a good mood and I took your stance as aggressive rather than constructive. I shouldn't take it out on those who don't deserve it. I'm glad you take an active interest in lichess' health and hope you stick around.

@mwghost: Your post #8 did come across as rather aggressive, non-constructive, and disrespectful toward the chief admin. Thibault has given much of his own money and time into building this website. He deserves more respect than what you have shown him.

Took the words out of my mouth...

If the Hearthstone/non-lichess-content/lichess-advertisment-link-thing is the only issue it would be a very unfortunate result, especially since it seemed as though his healthy relationship to lichess motivated him to stream more frequently :)
It's not really a question of whether or not the stream was entertaining -- yes, the stream was entertaining and I definitely enjoyed watching. The issue is that he didn't conduct the stream in a professional manner suitable for advertisement on the lichess homepage. Even I find this unfortunate, but I have to agree with thibault on this one.
Earlier today I was observing my country's most sacred of rituals, the Super Bowl, when Thibault visited my channel in an attempt to explain why I was removed. I appreciate that gesture, however belated. I also very much appreciate those who have said nice things here about my now somewhat purgatoried stream.

First off, I apologize for any offense to lichess I might have given - I tend to say things ironically and have been known to exaggerate for comic effect. Anyhow, just to be clear, I think this site is the most promising development over the last several years in chess and I was excited to be part of that.

As far as whatever transgressions I've committed, I can only again apologize for whatever they were - I was honestly unaware of their significance at the time and would have tried to conform better to the streaming guidelines had they been stated a bit more explicitly. Perhaps also contributing to my confusion was my own (perhaps naive) surprise that an admin whom I seemed on reasonably good terms with would not first message me their concerns before resorting to virtual excommunication. (And yes, it is indeed not always simple to catch everything said in "real time" in my channel while playing chess and eating bananas).

In any event, I freely admit my channel has at times had an admittedly chaotic tendency due to various factors - my own personality, the colorful gang of chess "regulars" frequenting it, my occasional technical incompetence, etc. - but the aim was always to provide as interactive a forum for chess (and, yes, occasionally other things) as possible, in part as an alternative to what I had witnessed from the majority of other streams. It is a pity I was unable to do so in a way suitable for this site, and doubly so that this entire dialogue has taken place after the fact.

Well I have my own small contribution to chess, that's perhaps why I tend to talk more on par, while perhaps his contribution, as it stands is greater. I was just angry at the recent developments in the other-ways good site, I did not intend to be aggressive or disrespectful on purpose, perhaps Thibault is getting too self sure, due to all the popularity, and when that happens - everything starts to go down. If everyone is going to talk nicely, and stay quite about faults, just because he is admin and they are scared of getting banned or too respectful - I don't believe it is going to be constructive.
I think most agree that warnings were appropriate. I think thibault agrees since, according to him, he attempted to give several warnings. However, it seems that those warnings were not ignored, they were not received. I wonder, since there was pretty clear miscommunication, if Zug could be given another chance with the warning now clearly received?

Seems reasonable to me, at least.
